Filmmakers’ Responsibilities to Society

I met a delightful woman at yesterday’s “boot camp” in preparation for the 2013 Clean Business Investment Summit.  Barbara Kerr Condon, who has a great deal of experience in this arena, and is in the process of producing a film called “Three Times A Lady,” an uplifting romantic comedy.  She believes that filmmakers have a responsibility to enhance our civilization, rather than to degrade it.  Barbara quotes Frank Capra, who said:  “Movies should be a positive expression that there is hope, love, mercy, justice, and charity…It is the filmmaker’s responsibility to emphasize the positive qualities of humanity by showing the triumph of the individual over adversities.”

HOPING more producers take a cue from Barbara Kerr Condon! I’m excited already!!!! Sounds like my kind of film! You can keep your Sharknados, Gangstas, Monsters, Killers, and Zombies. BRING ON THE HAPPY TEARS WITH THE UGLY CRY!!!!!!

So many movies today aim at the lowest common denominator with grossness, foul language, nudity and drug use substituted for genuine humor and emotion. It’s a sad state that movies reflect society, and even sadder when society reflects movies in a downward spiral. Uplifting and positive movies are a rarity these days because real writing, directing and acting is too difficult.

I rarely go to a movie anymore ~ the subject content just does not appeal to me.Looking forward to “Three Times a Lady” and any other movie that is an enjoyable, positive, thought provoking movie. I know I’m not alone.

  5. Agreed!! We need uplifting, ennobling positive media–and I’m delighted to be part of this project!

Have discussed the need for more positive, inspiring films with many friends. “Three Times a Lady” sounds like my kind of movie!

I love clean, family-friendly films. They mean so much more than just how gross can we be? or how far can we push the envelope?

I’ve been following the progress of “Three Times A Lady” for a while now and I really want to see this film produced. I hope the investors want to see it even half as much as I do!

  8. Sounds wonderful – I would go see it – I pray for favor with investors and that this project will come to fruition.
