Rinaldo Brutoco Speaks to “Savvy Investors” on Sustainable Energy Policy

Small world. I’m a member of a tiny, local club:  The Savvy Investors of Santa Barbara.  We have no more than 20 people at our monthly meetings, and take turns doing talks on our areas of expertise.  What are the odds that next week’s speaker would also be in sustainable energy policy?

This Monday evening, Rinaldo Brutoco, a fabulous public speaker, has the podium. Check him out here presenting to The Chopra Foundation, giving a talk called “Choices for Creation or Collapse: It’s Really Up to Us. World Transformation: Social and Economic Issues and Creative Solutions. Sages & Scientists”

The bad news is that Brutoco believes in distributed wind-to-hydrogen as the main solution to the world’s energy scene, which, regrettably, is poppycock.  You’re going to convert the world’s one billion cars and trucks to hydrogen?  You’re going to install a new fuel delivery infrastructure for the 3.5 million square miles of the continental U.S. alone?  You’re going to magically overcome the cost and efficiency issues of electrolyzing water?  You’re going to do all this in the 90+ countries whose GDP per capita is under $10,000?  You may think you are, but you’re not.

Of course, I promise to be respectful at all times, both during and after his talk.  I have an unfortunate tendency to make faces that show my disbelief when I come across stuff like this; I’ll have to be careful to suppress it.
