Jones & O’Malley: Great Bang for Your Buck in CleanTech PR

I’m a frugal guy, and, like most people who spend only when they must, I acquired this characteristic from my parents – in my case, principally from my father.

Strangely, perhaps Dad’s greatest pet peeve was the misuse of the word “frugal” itself.  When he declined to spend money on himself, perhaps for a new car, his friends at his tony country club might call him “cheap.”  “No, that’s not correct.  I’m frugal,” he’d respond.  “Frugality and cheapness are very different,” he’d go on to explain.  If I refrain from spending money on others, I’m ‘cheap.’  But if I’d rather save my money than spending it on myself, I’m ‘frugal’ — and that I am.”

He was indeed.  Dad drove his 1962 220S Mercedes, which he had bought in good condition, but most definitely used, until rust alone took the old girl to her grave in the late 70s.  But he was not cheap; he sweated and saved so as to be able to spend on the causes in which he believed (mainly his family).  I’ll never forget my angst in watching his commuting back and forth several times during our month-long vacations at the New Jersey shore to his work in the Philadelphia suburbs.  A few years later, he borrowed money to put my brother and me through college.

Now to my main point:  if you share the “frugal gene” with me and happen to be looking for a publicist who brings the ultimate bang for your buck, you’ll never find a better investment than Jones and O’Malley.  You may know that I like to promote my three books on renewable energy. But did you know that Jones and O’Malley has me on radio shows all over hell’s half acre?  I’m writing this at a few minutes past 10 PM – simply because I’ve spent the afternoon and most of the evening responding to the flood of invitations I’ve gotten from their work – that’s today’s work alone.

Jana Collins, Jones and O’Malley’s point-person, provides a unique approach to public relations, with campaigns that fit any budget – even mine. During the past 30 years, Jana has worked for numerous A-List celebrities, and, more to the point, green technologies companies. Jana has placed her clients and their products in almost every nationally distributed publication, every major television network and every top-rated cable station, including; ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, Discovery, Nat Geo, “E”, HGTV, DIY Network and many others, with shows as diverse as The Today Show, Nancy Grace, Doctor Phil, Dateline, Good Morning America, This Morning, 60 Minutes, Entertainment Tonight, CSI, Law & Order, 20/20, Ghost Adventures, as well as a number of big-budget motion pictures. Always professional and personable, Jana Collins is a publicist with a firm finger on the pulse of today’s fast-paced marketplace.

To say the very least, she’s done a terrific job for me.  And, if you’re like me, and you keep score, asking tough questions like: “How much return did I get for my dollar?” — she’s the deal of the century. Even the twinkle in her eye, as suggested in this photo, speaks to her bright, immediately likable spirit.  If you’d like to learn more, their website is a good place to start.

You seldom meet people of this caliber; they are a special breed: honest, hardworking, enjoyable, kind, generous, real examples of how we must crave to be. By their work and their example we learn so many things, like rewards from all these things. Like Einstein said: We must aim to be persons of value, rather than people of success (those who accumulate more for themselves).
    People worthy of praise.
    Merry Christmas.

    Craig,
With friends like these, Jana et al, ‘hang on to then with your life’ they are rarer than precious stones, and they are worth every breadth we breathe. Like mine as well, who were all much older than I was. So as we go on with age, sadly I have lost them all. So hold on to yours like heavenly sent manna. You see Craig, me & my friends had the luxury of time to develop strong friendship. Today, at this late stage of our lives we do not have that luxury, nonetheless, I shall treasure yours.

On Frugality, it reminds me of my mum, who was exceptionally frugal, but exceptionally generous towards poorer neighbours….

    Best wishes for Christmas. Ken

    • Ken:

Yes, hard-working people who give more than they expect in return are rare in the extreme, especially today.

And yes, frugality and generosity and are not mutually incompatible. Frugal people can often be incredibly generous.

Merry Christmas to you too, my friend.
