From Guest Blogger July Minor: Keep the Earth Clean — Green Living Basics

Green living has many benefits both for human beings and for nature. Many people today are turning to green living. There are people that want to stick to eco-friendly way of life but don’t know what exactly they should do. If you are such a person, we suggest you take a look at our tips and suggestions for an economical, fun and easy start of green living. Following these simple steps will ensure a simpler lifestyle that won’t be harming the nature or your wallet. So take advantage of our advice.

The Basics

Rule №1: Buying Products

Restrain from buying something today. If you want to go green, the best way to preserve nature is to stay away from the store. It is not the products you buy that makes you an ecologist. On the contrary, it is the things you DON’T buy. By giving up of a product you actually spare nature. So just for a day try not to buy stuff, especially stuff that you don’t really need.

Rule №2: Your Car

The point of going green is to minimize the production and manufacture of things. These things are made from and of various materials coming straight from nature. Or they simply pollute the environment. Either way, you want to restrict purchases so that you can minimize manufacture. This applies to buying cars as well.

If you think that buying a hybrid car protects nature, you’re probably missing the point here. Encouraging manufacture is not the best way to go green. You will be better off with your old vehicle as long as it runs properly.

Also, take good care of your car. Schedule regular tune-ups and provide all the adequate treatment to prolong your vehicle’s life.

Rule №3: Eating Organic Food

Eating organic food is a bit expensive. You either need to buy it from specialized stores or you need to grow your own organic fruit and vegetables. Even though it is costly, it’s much healthier both for you and the planet.

Following the first rule, you can start by buying just one organic product. For example, buy an apple.

Rule №4: Recycling

Recycling is an important step for everybody who wants to go green. Not to mention, it’s mandatory in some regions and countries. Just think about the millions of trees being chopped down every single day! By recycling even one single item you are contributing to sparing the planet. So start by recycling one item today. For example, you can recycle a newspaper or a glass bottle. Just pick up something and go ahead. You are already making a difference.

Rule №5: Green Cleaning

Cleaning is yet another habit to change in your life that will make all the difference. If you are an average person, perhaps you use normal household cleaners available in stores that contain a great deal of chemicals and promise to remove any dirt. However, these solutions cause damages both to your health and to the environment. Industrial chemicals like ammonia and chlorine bleach can be hazardous.

You have two options: either to shop for eco-friendly products or to make your own at home. We strongly recommend the second options since it’s safer. After all, even if a product says it’s “green”, it doesn’t mean it really is. Most green commercial cleaners contain harmful ingredients too.

So if you have time, the best thing to do is to prepare your own cleaning solutions at home using natural ingredients. Just look for cleaning recipes on the Internet. You will save money and you will protect both nature and your own health. It’s worth the try.
