A Short Chat About Renewable Energy Fraud

A Short Chat About Renewable Energy FraudHere’s a good example of what I go through in my pursuit of good ideas in renewable energy; it’s the dialog I had with the people I wrote about here.

Cogar Energy Rep:  We appreciate your interest in helping to save our environment by investing in or lending on the world’s most advanced green technology that compresses and accelerates air at rapid speeds to generate electricity!   …..  You may wish to invest in one of a number of possible manufacturing sites to process the orders that are flowing in.  Creative options and flexibility exist.   We arrange a conference call for serious investors and lenders to talk directly with the project head to have all questions answered and to receive documents needed.

Craig: Where does the energy comes from to compress the air?

Cogar Energy Rep:  I appreciate your response and I am quite impressed with your deep interest in alternative energy and in making an impact on our environment. I could arrange a conference call for you to speak directly with the CEO and his team to have all questions answered on this much-needed technology.   What would be a convenient window of time for you to talk about this exciting technology next week?   They are in California and not far from you.

Craig:  I don’t want to speak with anyone until/unless they can tell me where the energy comes from.

Cogar Energy Rep:  You would be talking directly with the CEO who is the inventor/engineer on this technology.  He can tell you exactly what you would like to know.   We look forward to talking with you about this exciting new technology.  You will be impressed.   It may prompt your writing another book!

Craig:  LOL!  Well, you folks have been nothing but kind and professional.  OK, please set up the call.  I’m looking forward to the conversation.  (I was also impressed that she modifies her gerunds with personal pronouns; “your writing” is correct, and most people get this wrong.)

(Call takes place.  Technobabble presentation of a clear violation of the laws of physics.)

Cogar Energy Rep:  At your convenience, let’s have another conference call in the next day or two.  With your background, I am sure you will have a number of questions for the CEO and his team.

Craig:  I don’t have any questions.  I’ve spoken with your people and looked at the website.  There is no possible scientific validity to this.  Worse, because he’s trying to raise investment capital, it’s criminal fraud, or at least an attempt at one.  You strike me as an honest and kind person; you should take my advice and immediately disassociate yourself with it.  Some people will be headed off to the slammer; I hope you won’t be among them.
