When It Comes to Regulating Fossil Fuel Giants, There Is No Justice

When It Comes to Regulating Fossil Fuel Giants, There Is No JusticeHere’s a tale of a billionaire coal baron who wants to become governor of West Virginia.  There’s a problem, though: he owes $15 million in mine safety fines in six states that he’s apparently unwilling to pay.  Jim Justice, an ironic name if there ever were one, is the nation’s top mine safety delinquent, and his mines have below-average safety records and injury rates twice the national average.

On top of all the other shameful garbage that’s happening in our great country, we don’t have a problem nominating obvious criminals to run for high office.

  1. Frank R. Eggers says:

    Apparently paying fines is optional. One wonders how optional fines can achieve their intended purpose.

    Craig on a more practical note, how does this solution sound:

    1. Let’s all push hard to make Jim Justice Governor of West Virginia, so we can keep a very close eye on him in that role, and;

    2. Find a new professionally qualified and safety minded expert to manage Jim’s mines properly.

    I think we may be onto a winning formula here!

    LOL. (a bit of sarcasm here of course Craig – I do share your frustration from time to time mate)

    The Justice Dude is a good candidate for Rough Justice in the Town Square but the voters of West Virginia suffer from clouded mental ability perhaps its the Legacy of the years of excessive pollution etc.
