A Contributed Post: Putting The Change In Climate Change One Step At A Time

Climate change Putting The Change In Climate Change One Step At A Time affects every single one of us. We continually abuse our environment and the resources available to us. It’s as though we don’t think we’ll have to deal with the repercussions. The truth is, we face the consequences every day. The confusing weather is proof of just how much damage our actions are having. Don’t think you’re exempt from the damage. We’re all just as guilty as each other when it comes to the destruction of our planet. The good news is, it doesn’t have to be that way. All it takes are some small changes. Altering your behavior, even just a little, will make a huge difference. Picture Credit

WHY BOTHER?

Most people have a ‘why should I bother’ attitude when it comes to lessening their carbon footprint. In many ways, this goes back to the belief that we are all somehow immune from impacting the environment. In truth, there are so many reasons to bother. If the environment isn’t incentive enough, consider the futures of your children and grandchildren. Putting The Change In Climate Change One Step At A TimeThe weather has gone haywire already, and we’re only just seeing the effects of climate change. Imagine how bad things will get later down the line. A lot of people are also under the impression that nothing they do can change anything, so what’s the point? If everyone had that attitude, nothing would change. The difference starts one person at a time.  Picture Credit

CYCLE WHENEVER POSSIBLE

Cars are terrible for spitting toxic chemicals into the environment. Nonetheless, we have become dependent on them for even the smallest journeys. Many countries have begun to understand this increasing problem. They have started to offer cycle initiatives to get people cycling instead. If you don’t own a bicycle, get one. Hop on your bike instead of getting in your car next time you need to take a short trip somewhere. This will help the environment, and give you some exercise, which is always a plus!

USE RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES

Using fossil fuels to gain energy has a significant impact on the environment. It’s also worth mentioning that fossil fuels are on borrowed time. In the foreseeable future, we will all have to look elsewhere for our energy. Why not get ahead of the crowd? Look into renewable energy today. Considering sustainable energy around your home will save you huge amounts on your energy bills, and will do wonders for the environment. You could have solar power installed on your roof, or a wind turbine in your garden. The initial installation costs will set you back, but think how quickly these additions will pay for themselves.

CUT DOWN ON ENERGY USE

Something as simple as cutting down on your energy use will make a huge difference. Put a jumper on instead of your heating. Turn lights off when rooms aren’t in use. Buy thick curtains and draft excluders to keep your house as warm as possible. Becoming more aware of the energy you are using is the first step to cutting that usage down.

    This article is very important.

But it should not be labeled under the category heading of “climate change” pe se.

It relates to good personal practices around being energy thrifty. Very admirable and important issues we all agree.

Well done for the article – but it is ‘dangerously’ mis-categorized particularly for impressionable inexperienced ordinary people, trying to learn about greenhouse gas issues and climate change, which is just about all of us.
