(Some) Wealthy People Will Not Sit Back and Let This Civilization Destroy Itself

A friend sent me this post on wealthy individuals who are backing a huge clean energy fund aimed at backing fledgling, high-risk companies whose results could potentially have enormous implications for the future of this planet.   I respond:

Thanks.  Obviously, I’m not too sanguine on the events of the last few weeks.  But one thing this civilization still has going for it is that there are moneyed interests that care deeply about sustainability, including Gates and several other billionaires, as well as huge market-cap enterprises like Google, Apple, and Tesla.  There is also a slew of what I would call “amoral” enterprises that are placing big bets on renewable energy simply because they see dollar signs: Deutsche Bank, Credit Suisse, Citibank, etc.

There’s always reason for hope.
