Logic and “Type II” Trump Supporters
If you had to defend yourself against an attack of swarming bees, would you use a hand gun?
Of course not.
Wrong tool for the job, correct?
That’s why I declined to respond to a request for a donation to help run the ad below on Fox News. It ably uses logic to point out that Trump has betrayed his Type II supporters (see below), which, of course, is true. But if logic were at stake here, we wouldn’t be having this discussion in the first place.
I hope everyone reading this–even the occasional Trump supporter of both types–will watch the video and come to his own conclusion. Mine is: there is absolutely no chance that this is going to make a dent on anyone who doesn’t already believe it.
Type I: Amoral rich people who know Trump is a terrible human being but don’t care
Type II: People too stupid to understand that Trump is a terrible human being, and/or so hateful they idolize him
Regrettably, the necessarily misguided support that folks give to authoritarian demagogues often endures long past the point of the ridiculously absurd – and long past the inception of deepening suffering endured by those supporters. Sometimes people don’t quickly learn from pain.
