Relevance:  Our civilization is doomed if we don’t take a radical approach to climate change, and we’re not doing a good job here at all.  Of course, the U.S. is running backwards; its Environmental Protection Agency is taking a wrecking ball to virtually every aspect of our skies and water ways.  “Environment Destruction Agency” would be a far better name.

Having said that, according to the article linked above, the rest of the world isn’t doing much better.

Granted, the task of climate change mitigation is tailor-made to elude the grasp of humankind.  It requires a) sacrifice of present-day pleasures, b) cooperation with strangers whom we’re programmed to fear and hate, c) and long-term vision/planning.  Needless to say, we suck at all three.
