Solar Flower

82dbf6cae1772ebce3f61a4b34447ba4_XLHere’s a video of the project you see here, a double-axis tracking solar PV device that retracts (partially folds up) at night.  It sells for about $27,000 plus installation plus God-only-knows how much maintenance, making it a fabulous product for anyone who:

• Wants to pay several times the prevalent rate for electricity.

• Wants to eat up his real estate while shading his lawn or garden, vs. his roof, and

• Is OK with the ridicule that rightly is directed at silly people who buy silly things.

To the kids in the picture flying a kite, “Hey! Be careful not to run into that big eyesore that’s killing the grass!”

I love renewable energy, but I love common sense, truth and honesty even more.

    Craig,

With every boom there are always the eccentric. silly and batty ideas and products appearing in weird and wonderful form.

My ‘Fully Dial-O-Matic Handy Dandy Sponge Sharpener, available in `14 colours at only $5.99, is a good example of a really innovative product !

  2. Maybe that product would work in a solar farm, but a yard is just a stupid place for this product! The problem with it is not the product itself, but the target audience that the company has chosen!
