I Hear What You’re Claiming, But Who’s Stupid Enough To Believe It?

rejectedA right-wing fanatic sent me this video of Nancy Pelosi in which her words, clearly edited to be taken completely out of context, are represented as proof that Pelosi and the entire left proudly and overtly uses outright lies as campaign strategies.

I had originally written:

Norm, maybe the problem with our country is that there are people stupid enough to believe that this shows Pelosi is espousing that as a valid strategy.  We’re so screwed.

Of course, this is a suggestion that Norm himself is stupid, and that’s not how I like to conduct myself in public, so I softened it to:

Norm, please tell me you’re not seriously suggesting that Pelosi is espousing that as a valid strategy.

The original is far closer to the truth, in that we are screwed indeed if the common American is so stupid as to be incapable of seeing through this.

Here’s another: This video that suggests Exxon Mobil is a morally good company because it’s investing some resources in algae-based biofuels, driven by their heartfelt passion to reduce carbon emissions.  By 2025, they will have the “technical capacity” (not “a commitment”) to produce 10K barrels per day (about one one-thousandth of U.S. gasoline consumption).

There are people who buy this.  They’re called morons.

  1. That video only showed her explaining it. There was nothing in that video that proved that she or anybody that is anti-Kavanaugh is using it. The people who posted/shared/believed it needs to be a new level of stupid to believe this. If that’s the case, then we really are screwed.
