Citizens United Is Guiding America’s MegaTrends

If you doubt this, ask yourself how it’s possible that a proposition that enjoys 91% public support, e.g., universal background checks for prospective gun owners, cannot even get a vote on the Senate floor.

Note also that the enormous tax breaks for billionaires and corporations that were recently enacted are extremely unpopular among the American people at large, not that this matters one iota.  At this point, “government of, by, and for the people” exists in name only, and it shows no sign of resurfacing.

Making matters worse is the illusion to which most of us so dearly cling to the effect that we have access to the truth; more than 90% of the very information that you and I have at our disposal to evaluate the merits of concepts like the one under discussion here comes from just six different corporate entities.

Those who, via whatever miracle, are still involved and concerned, can do their best to strike down the U.S. Supreme Court decision “Citizens United,” that provides corporations limitless power to control the outcome of our elections.    It’s my sincere hope that we can turn this around.

    Craig,

Why, O’ why, do you persist with these inaccurate and disingenuous rants?

The US Supreme Court did not ” provide corporations limitless power to “control” the outcome of our elections” ! That’s a distortion at best, and a deliberate lie at worst.

The Supreme Court simply recognized the right of all entities to partake in the political process.

Hey, I notice you carefully avoid any criticism of billionaire Jeff Bezos $500 million contribution to the Democrats ? That’s okay is it? As long as payola flows your way, it’s acceptable ?

O’ Brother where is a land free of the cant of hypocrisy?

As for the tax cuts, you must be living in a fantasy land. The US economy is growing at an amazing rate, despite dark clouds gathering over Europe and China, the US economy is growing with confidence and depth. For the first time since the 1960’s the employment rate among working class American’s is increasing.

This is due, in part, to the reduction in tax rates. These reductions resulted in American capital reinvesting in US industry and enterprize. Capital goes where it’s welcome. For the first time in many years, the US is gaining a competitive business environment.

The President’s strong stance of US trade is helping, although it will take a long time for the US economy to gain sufficient strength to tackle debt reform.

The massive gains in economic activity are most obvious in the neglected “old” economy. This is where the blue collar jobs are among the traditional American working class. These are are the folk so despised by Democrats as “deplorables”, and sniggered at by West Coast and Washington liberal elitists and the chattering class.

You bleat on about “Billionaires and Corporate Wealth” yet when Warren Buffet donates to protect his railroad interests, or Jeff Bezos to protect his near monopoly, you can’t wait to grab the cash as eager lickspittles!

Even on issues like gun control, you are disingenuous! 91% of Americans will agree on any “love mom and apple pie” form of question asked in a survey.

Legislators know not to trust such surveys. Legislators and campaign managers have learned to ask more relevant questions of electors revealing more accurate voting intentions. The truth is most Americans do not want gun control!

The electorate may want to stop massacres, but not enough to do anything practical, certainly not change the second amendment.

Legislators know this and react accordingly. That’s not corruption, that’s representative democracy! Any elected legislator who ignored 91%, simply wouldn’t be re-elected, that’s obvious !

Why is that so hard to understand ? Why can’t you accept the obvious, logical and commonsense conclusion that the poll must be faulty in the phrasing of the question?

You can’t, because despite the poll being obviously flawed, you want to believe it to be true, despite reality.

The economy is doing amazing well, especially for the working class, but you won’t accept the obvious reality because it proves you wrong, so you would rather invent a fantasy, or nitpick at the edges.

There is an increasing crisis on the Southern border, building to an overwhelming humanitarian disaster for the American people.

In your hatred of the current administration, you would rather ignore. exacerbate and exploit human misery to the detriment of everyone involved, including the best interests of America and its citizens, just to selfishly frustrate a President whom you dislike.

You prefer selfish fantasy, than reality, no matter the cost to your fellow citizen.

    Why?
