Wow! You Really BELIEVE That?

The author of the meme here has accurately summed up the biggest problem facing our civilization: the frailty of poor thinking.  We have a horrific inability to question anything that undermines what we want to believe, when these beliefs are underpinned with emotion.  We don’t question weather reports or the results of sporting events or the news that a certain house in our city has burned down.  Add some bitterness, on the other hand, and two plus two can equal five.

Perhaps the reason that we’re not headed in the direction of a sustainable future is that, on balance, we don’t deserve one.  If the thinking that’s prevalent in today’s world is the best we can muster, maybe we will have earned the decay we seem to be  facing.
