Biomimicry

Here’s a great little story of biomimicry in action, i.e., imitating naturally evolved biological processes to improve the design of solutions that benefit human civilization.  

Life on this planet has had four billion years to figure stuff out, and it’s come up with some amazing answers. We’ve been learning about nature for thousands of years; now we’re starting to learn from it.  Lots more on biomimicry here, collected over the years.

Looked at another way, it’s a story about nature in the 21st Century that’s actually good news for all concerned.  How often does that happen?
