Q2 Wind Turbine Orders Set New Record

As noted, the second quarter of 2019 saw record sales of wind turbines to project developers, which surprised those who had thought that the industry was mature and might have topped out.

Regarding clean energy, we’re most certainly headed in the right direction; the phasing out of fossil fuels, based largely on the forces of pure market economics, continues full bore.  This is what’s happening:

The price of wind and solar energy continues to fall.

The world is becoming increasingly concerned about environmental collapse, and moves to decarbonize energy.

R&D in technology that facilitates in the integration of intermittent energy sources (energy storage and long distance, high voltage transmission).

Advanced nuclear moves closer to market readiness.

There is no doubt that, if we still have a civilization here in 75 years, that it will be one that powers itself with a combination of renewables and nuclear. That, however, is a big if.  Indeed there are positive developments , but for every one of those, there are things that should scare the pants of us.  It a battle royal, and being a participant in it is a true joy.
