Ocean Acidification Is Hard To Reverse

A friend who quit drinking told me that one’s liver generally recovers when it’s no longer required to process all that poison….but, if one continually starts and stops, or, obviously, if one continues to drink like a fish, the liver can “give up” and go into cirrhosis.

Apparently there is a similar process with ocean acidification.  According to Physics World, our oceans can reach a threshold past which they will be unable to recover the pH range (~8.2) they need to support most aquatic life.

Btw, Physics World is fabulous; readers should consider subscribing.
