Kurds Watch Homes Burn

It’s possible that we’ll never know the reason that Trump ignored the Pentagon and left U.S. Kurdish allies to run or die in Northern Syria.  There must have been some perceived value for him, but what could it have been?  Again, it’s speculation, but it’s hard not to notice that the only two clear winners here are Erdogan and Putin.

The United States, of course, is the obvious loser, since, as of now, it will be impossible for any foreign state to trust us any father than they can throw us.  A pledge of loyalty from the U.S. is as meaningless as a construction contract to build one of Trump’s casinos.

    Craig,

Your anti-Trump mania completely lacks any sense of logic.

The civil war in Syria was never any business of the USA.

President Obama was wrong to interfere in the domestic politics of Syria by promising material aid and support to the rebels, knowing full well he had no intention or capacity to fulfill his promises.

President Trump inherited the resultant chaos, but fulfilled his election promises by withdrawing Us troops once ISIS was defeated as a territorial entity.

When Turkey entered the power void, President Trump successfully intervened diplomatically curtailing and restricting Turkey’s ambitions.

The result has been a huge success.

The US should never have interfered in Iraq, but having done so, should have created an independent Kurdish homeland.

All middle-eastern nations are the artificial constructs of some long dead European delegates to the Versailles Conference in 1919.

For the US, the Kurds are simply “allies of convenience”. The US owes them no greater or lesser support, than the limited objective of defeating ISIS.

On the other hand, the Turks have been allies of the US for more than 70 years and supported the US in many conflicts outside just the middle-east.

Given the opportunity, the Pentagon would be fighting endless wars all over the globe, forever!

But it’s strange how ready you are to cozy up to the Pentagon, CIA or any other entity you used to regard as an enemy, just as long as they are opposed to President Trump.

It’s also very hypocritical of you considering you had no compunction about urging the US to desert millions of US allies in Vietnam to a very cruel fate ! In fact you cheered!

At the moment, the spectacle being played out in Washington shows just how deep the challenge to the constitution has become by the Washington (or beltway) bureaucracy and establishment has become.

“Expert” after “expert” has testified, giving their opinion of why they disagree with the President’s conduct of foreign policy.

Many are civil servants left over from the old administration who openly boast of refusing to implement or actively resisting policy changes by the new administration.

These individuals are encouraged to do so by Democrat legislators.

Nowhere in the Constitution does it allow civil servants or any other person to subvert, resist or decide their opinion is more valid than the President.

In fact, it’s the exact opposite!Foreign policy is the sole prerogative of the President.

The idea that a soldier in uniform should decide foreign policy, not the elected President was decided when Truman sacked MacArther.

Surely, even despite your obsessive hatred of President Trump, you must be alarmed at the damage done by these individuals to the fabric of the constitution?

Presidents come and go, but this kind of persuasive erosion of the Constitution by unelected individuals is far more important than your hatred of this President.

Or is your hatred of President Trump greater than you love of America and the US Constitution?

    Craig,

Meanwhile over at the Impeachment farce, things appear to be going downhill for the Democrats.

After the first round of hearings, public opinion polls which showed as high as 52% support for impeachment, have fallen to 47%, while opposition which had fallen to as low as 42% has risen to 46%.

Even more disturbing for the democrats is in separate polls 68% of respondents who supported impeachment indicated their support was based on a desire to “get it done with” and only 31% believed the President should be removed!

We live in interesting times !
