Superstorms in Europe

We’ve all wondered how the U.S. news media selects the stories it wishes to pick up and run with.  The most obvious answer is that news is simply a form of for-profit entertainment, and there must be some decision-making apparatus that predicts in advance what American consumers are likely to find appealing.
