Americans Slow on the Uptake

Many Americans report feeling like they’re on a merry-go-round, today wondering how something so odd and terrible could be possible, tomorrow learning why, but the following day scratching their heads again.

I spend a lot of time lamenting how difficult it has become to convince people of the most obvious truths: the world is a spheroid, human activity is causing climate change, the U.S. president is a pathological liar, etc.  Then I come across signs like these (example at left), and everything makes perfect sense.

But wait.  Ask me tomorrow how our social media is rife with postal workers and grocery store clerks explaining how climate science is “junk.” I’m not sure I’ll be able to answer that one.
