Mike Pence “Poses His Own Risks”

At this point it appears that what Trump said about his hypothetical shooting a random person on Fifth Avenue and not losing votes is true, and thus, this is a moot issue.

In any case, from The New Yorker: “President Trump’s critics yearn for his exit. But Mike Pence, the corporate right’s inside man, poses his own risks.

To which a reader notes, “You think Trump is scary? Mike Pence believes the earth is 6000 years old and two of every living creature made it onto Noah’s Ark, except for the dinosaurs; they drowned.

Obviously Pence poses his own risks; in fact, that’s an understatement.  They’re not risks; they’re 100% assured violations of everything American society used to be based on; things like science, compassion, and human rights.

But here’s the point: he’s not a criminal sociopath.  He’s not going to spend his time punishing enemies, pardoning friends, buddying up with dictators, overtly condoning white nationalism, inciting violence, profiting from his office, running fraudulent charities, pulling out of treaties, or lying 12 – 13 times a day.

Now in fairness, it’s true that Pence might be worse on social issues: secular public education, abortion, LGBTQ rights, and the like.  Christian extremists also tend to be anti-environmentalists. If I believed that, as asserted in the Book of Genesis, that only God can destroy the Earth, I’d be bad news for the environment too.
