Maybe it’s time for misleading claims like this to stop. That solar array will generate about 400 Watts (about 1/2 HP) in full sun. That’s the power of the motor in your garbage disposal, 1/100th of the power necessary to maintain highway speed.
It’s never going to generate enough to run the car without having to plug in, but through the summer, could maybe give 20 or 30 miles daily range. I would estimate the rated power of the solar cells at maybe a kW or slightly over. B
Remember, most cars are sitting parked maybe 22 or 23 hours a day, and that when moving, they are often crawling anong in bumper to bumper traffic on an urban commute not using very much power. If the solar cells can be integrated at reasonable cost, I would say go for it!
