In What Century Will the Cruise Line Industry Recover?

Sure, it’s galling that huge sums of the Paycheck Protection Program are going to huge publicly traded companies rather than small businesses, but this post focuses on another matter.

Isn’t it clear that some of these businesses–in fact, entire industries–aren’t coming back?  How many generations will pass before anyone will want to get anywhere near a cruise ship?  Once we’ve lived through the coronavirus, it’s going to take one hell of a long time before it sounds appealing to be trapped on a boat, packed like sardines, with people who are infected with a deadly and highly contagious disease.

I have no visibility into the corrupt manner with which this process is conducted, but maybe we should consider not re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic, and simply let it go down.
