Concept in Energy Storage

Here’s another one of those clean energy concepts that falls under the category: “will ‘work,’ but would be so ridiculously expensive that it will never be built.”  It’s an idea in the energy storage space that’s a variant of “advanced rail,” using surplus energy to move masses uphill against the force of gravity, and then recovering some of that energy when the masses are allowed to return back down.

If this class of concepts is to have any legitimacy, it must lie in their simplicity.  That’s where this particular idea completely falls apart.
