Trump Gave Us the “Gift” That Keeps On Giving: Perpetual Rancor

Here’s one of the core problems facing the U.S., and it doesn’t seem positioned to simply go away.

Perhaps 60% of the country has the feelings expressed at the left.  We don’t want to unify around criminal psychosis; we want to rid ourselves of it, by applying reason, as well as the laws of the land. 

The other 40%, however, carries around with them a deeply embedded belief system that includes an election stolen by a doddering old fool who leads the “radical left,” a bunch of snowflakes who want open borders, socialism, an intrusive government that takes away our guns and otherwise enslaves us, locks us down based on the ruse of a deadly pandemic, encourages looting, and so forth.  Moreover, they want to dismiss the January 6th insurrection, and simply “move on.”

We really are a million miles apart, and now that the GOP stands behind the true nut-jobs like Marjorie Taylor Green, we’re probably further apart than we were a couple of weeks ago when Trump left office.
