For Trump, It’s Justice Time

A surprise to no one, Trump is decrying the actions that the Justice Department is taking against him as an extension of the original witch hunt. He can be counted on to say precisely this whenever he’s attacked legally, at least as long as there are people who believe that.

At the risk of stating the obvious, the American people want absolutely nothing here but fairness.  Speaking for myself, I don’t want excessive aggression or excessive leniency.   In the case of  the alleged fraud in re: the Trump Foundation, I want for the Trumps whatever would have happened to my family and me if we ran the “Shields Foundation” in the precise fashion that he ran his organization.

We need to brace ourselves for the loud, incessant, and whiny rhetoric that’s about to come from Trump and the sycophants who, despite everything, still support him.  We can almost hear it coming:  The Deep State, the radical left, this is soooo divisive, the fake news, no one has ever loved this country more, the elites, the swamp, the strongest economy in history, the corrupt FBI, Mueller and Comey, the waste of taxpayers’ money, the strongest military, it’s time to move on, it was a perfect call, no one has every been treated more unfairly.

We also need to keep in mind that the convening of this grand jury is the first, but it’s almost certain not to be the last.  Keep an ear to the ground for allegations of tax evasion, obstruction of justice, incitement to insurrection, extortion, election tampering, witness intimidation, and God knows what else.

Again, America is not focused on the rhetoric, but on justice.  We want nothing more, nothing less.
