My Three Degrees of Separation from Trump

A few years ago, I asked a wealthy friend if he had any good investment ideas.  He told me that the private equity firm Colony Capital had tripled his money in a fairly short period of time. I looked into this and learned immediately that its founder, Thomas Barrack, is a fund raiser and close confidante to Donald Trump.  I thanked my friend, but explained that, on moral grounds, I would not be moving forward.

Speaking of moving forward, it turns out that this is exactly what happened to Barrack; he moved forward into jail.  He’s charged with illegally lobbying Trump on behalf of the United Arab Emirates, obstruction of justice, and making multiple false statements during a June 2019 interview with federal law enforcement agents, and, as a heavy-duty flight risk, he’s likely to be detained until his trial.

Since prosecutors said the “evidence of [Barrack’s] guilt in this case is overwhelming,” it appears that his next move forward will be from the Los Angeles Detention Center to some federal corrections facility.

As for Trump’s scummy allies, another one bites the dust.
