This Campaign Platform Is Doomed To Failure

It’s always amazing how people who aspire to political greatness got there.  One thing I can tell you: this senatorial hopeful is going to go down like a dog.

Why?

“Bringing people together?” At this point in U.S. history, both sides of the political chasm have come to abhor one another.  The conservatives say progressives want to turn this country into Venezuela.  Progressives think Republicans, with their love affair with the ex-president, will take us to something akin to fascism.

This, FWIW, is what made Trump successful.  Unlike Mandela Barnes, he targeted a side and he went with it.  Long before he was a serious political candidate, he said that if he would  run for office, he’d do so as a Republican.  He found, some would say “generated,” enough support among the angry white people and the wealthiest people in the nation, to carry him to office.

In any case, we have no more interest in “coming together” than we have getting hit by an asteroid.
