What’s Up with the U.S. Justice Department?

My wife just asked me, “Why isn’t the justice department moving against these brazen criminals who are defying congressional subpoenas?” to which I replied, “I have no more insight into this than you or the other +/- hundred million Americans who are asking that very question.”

The content of the meme here, while good news on the surface, may be just another link in a long chain of frustration.  Trump has an unblemished record of of delay, obfuscation, recrimination, and his favorite, abuse of process, i.e., filing frivolous law suits.

He’s aware that the midterms are less than a year away, that the Republicans are likely to come away victorious, and that there is nothing he has done (or will do in the future) that is sufficiently vile to drive the GOP to hold him accountable.

Caveats:

A lot can happen in 11 months.

Every team is undefeated until they lose their first game.

The DoJ could pounce on all these people at any time.

While it’s true that the U.S. Supreme Court is as conservative as it’s been in our lifetimes, these people really don’t want to be remembered as the group that flushed American democracy down the toilet.
