Effects of Biden’s Keystone Pipeline Cancellation

I had a talk with a Republican the other day who told me that Biden, worse than buying oil from the Russians, destroyed America’s domestic oil production on his first day in office.  It took me a few moments to figure out what she meant…then it came to me: the Keystone XL pipeline.

The long-term effects of the pipeline’s cancellation are anybody’s guess, but the short-term effects are certain–they are zero.

The pipeline would have taken years to build, even in the extremely improbable event that it did not face many different serious legal challenges along the way.  There is no conceivable way that Biden’s decision, which was hailed as a fantastic breakthrough by the majority of Americans, had anything whatsoever to do with the current spike in oil prices.
