Should Trump Be Indicted?

This is a hot topic right now, and there are numerous perspectives.  According to some jackass on Sunday morning news TV, that’s “up to the American people, and they don’t care.”

Wrong on both accounts.

First of all, the American people actually do care a great deal about this matter. The majority of Americans believe Trump committed crimes associated with January 6th, not to mention other felonies during his presidency.  Further, most Americans understand the concept of rule of law, and are adamant it applies equally to all of us.

Obviously, his supporters have a point of view here as well, likely that their hero is being persecuted by the fake news, the Deep State, the Clinton Foundation, or whatever.

The second point is that the decision to prosecute Trump, or anyone else, does not come from the consensus of the American people, but rather from the justice community, on whom we depend for fairness and the equal protection under the law as guaranteed by the 5th and 14th Amendments.

We all need to hope that Merrick Garland doesn’t care one iota about what anyone thinks he should do here.
