Holland Keeping the Tulips and Wind Mills But Getting Rid of Coal-Fired Power Plants. Good Choice.

There’s no doubt that the Dutch are doing an excellent job in terms of all these things, including taking an extremely aggressive tack on energy and the environment. Here’s an article making an announcement that should come as no surprise: no more coal. The Dutch parliament has decided to close all remaining coal plants, which serves both to improve the cleanliness of our oceans and skies, as well as to send a beautiful and powerful message to the rest of the world: We did it, and so can you. Well played, guys.

It’s my guess that, as Holland closes coal plants, they will import more power from other countries since they did not mention nuclear. But perhaps not; perhaps they have sufficient hydro power to fill in when intermittent sources are producing insufficient power.
