The rhino gestation period is 16 months, and the population is up 10X? Are they having litters like rats?

   Craig,

   The explanation is quite simple. Both Rhino’s and Elephants have responded to Tanzania’s tough anti-poaching campaign and fodder provisions. The animals, attracted by a combination of food, water and safety have migrated to Tanzania and breeding has increased accordingly.

   Tanzania security forces have been far more successful in suppressing poaching in the last few years.
