What We All Have In Common Is Absolutely EnormousA friend on Facebook requested that everyone share a photo of the U.S. flag, as a sign of respect. I complied, and added:
Citizens of Earth (like me) respect this flag, and the other 195–all at the same time. We recognize that we have surface-level differences from the people of other countries, but that what we share in common is much greater, and far more important.

Anyway one looks at it, hemp is a wonder substanceSustainable Building Material.  As a building material, it is easily and inexpensively grown with organic farming methods.  Hemp can be formed in blocks, much like concrete that are naturally terrific insulators, and fire- and insect-resistant as well.  In a world in which harsh chemicals continue to invade our biosphere, and thus our bodies (there are more than 140 synthetic chemicals in your blood stream as you read this), hemp offers the opportunity to stop this trend dead in its tracks. On the Term "Deplorables"Not only was referring to Trump supporters as “deplorables” the most egregious political error in the history of humankind, it’s actually horrifically unfair.

Imagine that you’re an under-educated and semi-skilled white guy, working long and hard hours in the “heartland,” that the growth of the U.S. economy since 1980 has completely bypassed you (and gone to the top 1%), and that a charismatic billionaire comes along. (more…)

Climate Change Poses Threat To Our Civilization's Protection Against Climate ChangeI’m sure most readers are aware of the stronghold called the Global Seed Vault, built about a decade ago and maintained with international cooperation in the arctic permafrost to enable humankind to regrow about one million species and cultivars of plants in the case of a man-made or natural disaster.  (more…)

Image-45Re: my post on the subsidies for and taxation of the oil industry the other day, frequent commenter and 2GreenEnergy opposionist writes: The oil industry is already America’s largest taxpayer and most valuable taxpayer…..Attempting to build into the tax system vague concepts such as “externalities” is detrimental and unworkable.
