Most indications are that Trump will be in no condition to run for president again in 2024.  Political experts believe the Republican party will have jettisoned the criminal sociopath long before then, while many legal experts claim that he’ll be on his way to prison.

That said, neither of these possibilities will be at all satisfactory to the driver of the vehicle shown here.

As a reader notes:

“At one time, he was a good mayor, with a caring heart when the tragedy of 911 took place in New York City. However, when he entered the dark and sick environment of Donald J. Trump, he quickly and willingly, went down a rabbit hole, into the abyss, where even the Republican Senate have mislead their “red” meat base into believing that they sponsor democracy when in fact, it is an authoritarian-fascism.”

Indeed.  As far as I’m aware, Giuliani is unique in history for having thrown away an enviable reputation of honor to become a piece of scum.  One needs to go to literature (Goethe’s Faust) to find a character who made such a poor decision.

On a much smaller scale, of course, this happens to people constantly.  I’m sure every heroin addict on Earth wishes he hadn’t gotten his first high.

Here, however, we’re talking about one of the most visible people in the United States, a man who carried with him great respect, and who knowingly and deliberately ditched that to become one of the kingpins in a criminal enterprise.

I work out at the local YMCA, which unfortunately was founded by a wealthy Republican, and thus, on the way to my favorite machines, I have walk by a set of televisions, one of which always shows Fox News.

As I made may way across the floor yesterday, the topic was reducing our consumption of meat.  On the screen:  “Bill Gates’ decision to go vegetarian will not save the planet.”

Do you think Gates believes that his eating habits alone are going to move the needle on climate change?  Doesn’t it seem more likely that Gates, an extremely bright human being, is trying to lead masses of people to cut meat out of their diets, thus arresting the destruction of the Amazon rain forest?

Apparently, the people who write this garbage for Fox have an extremely low opinion of their viewers’ intelligence.

Mitch McConnell recently pointed to “candidate quality,” presumably referring to Mehmet Oz and Herschel Walker, as the reason Republicans are struggling as they go into the midterms.

As the author of the meme here notes, however, the 2024 presidential election looks even worse.

Below is a video presentation from the CEO of HEVO, a player in the wireless (inductive) EV charging space.

Perhaps the coolest features demonstrated here are the dozens of different elements of software that help drivers find charging points, make reservations, align their cars to the charging mat, and then access real-time information as to the actual charging process and the health of their battery.

The demo in the video is done on a 2012 Nissan Leaf, whose battery health turns out to be 61%, which is terrible.  If I were into writing puns, I might say that it’s terminally ill.   In fact, it’s recommended that EV owners get new batteries at 80%, and recycle their old ones to people who will use them for grid storage.

Mixed in with all the garbage in our world today is the trend we see toward kindness.

I just came across this gem.

Achieving a sustainable culture is built on the assumption of kindness to others.  People who are indifferent to the well-being of others are going to be unwilling to make sacrifices so that future generations can meet their needs just as we are meeting ours today.

The first day without Trump as a force in our lives will indeed be a blessing.

Yet that could come if he’s run over by a bus, and sadly that won’t buy us much in terms of national redemption.  What needs to happen is, unfortunately, a somewhat drawn-out legal process; it involves criminal charges and then lengthy trials that result in convictions.

Through whatever arduous processes are necessary, we must all learn that we made a terrible mistake in 2016 that must never, ever, be repeated.

Growing up in the 1960s there was very little “thinking outside the box” that went into pumpkin carving. The paradigm commanded us to, under our parents supervision, to  cut holes for the eyes, nose, and mouth; any creativity went into cool facial expressions.

Over the last 20 years, we’ve seen a veritable explosion in this space, where clunky, boring holes have been replaced with nuanced scraping and the use of razor-thin slicing to provide shadows, as well as subtle shades of color and lighting.  At the same time, the spooky heads that had been the default for decades have been replaced with the widest possible range of subject matter.

Here’s the work of some talented justice seeker.  Fabulous.

From this:

“Trump will be indicted in a RICO action in GA, and federally for Obstruction of Justice (at minimum) for his theft of classified information, plus Seditious Conspiracy and Conspiracy to Defraud (at minimum) for Jan 6th. In short, he should face three criminal cases before 2024,” Dean wrote. (more…)

California is implementing a law under which doctors who spread misinformation about COVID can be disciplined, and predictably, the MAGA crowd is apoplectic, calling it a violation of free speech.

Of course, most people with MD degrees are intelligent folks whose treatment strategies are informed by science, not QAnon; they’re not recommending against vaccinations, and they’re not suggesting the swallowing of bleach, so this applies to a very few.  Having said that, I’m sure there are doctors who believe God-knows-what about virus-based diseases.  Should they be allowed to use that ignorance to harm their patients?

It’s hard to see how this is different than any other sort of blatant malpractice.  If an Ob/Gyn delivers babies with a post-hole digger (see photo), the AMA will remove his license to practice medicine immediately.

Given that, why does California need a law to ensure that its residents are protected against crackpots?
