The U.S. Midterms
If Republicans can convince voters that they and only they can curb inflation, get tough on crime, and prevent immigrants from stealing their jobs, it seems possible that they’ll emerge victorious in the midterms. But on the other issues that matter to Americans they fall flat on their faces: abortion, racism, the rise of evangelical Christianity / prayer in schools, halting environmental collapse, protection of democracy / January 6th, gun violence, support for Ukraine, quality education, public health, and voting rights.
Something else to keep in mind: Voters who are extremely concerned about abortion rights are almost guaranteed to elect Democrats. By contrast, those who worry about the economy are not slam-dunk votes for Republicans, given the low unemployment rate, falling gas prices, and rapidly recovering stock market.
There are plenty of goings on in American politics that make no sense, but allowing Clarence Thomas to play a continuing role in bringing justice to Donald Trump for his attempt to overthrow the U.S. federal government is probably the single most insane aspect of all of this.

Not sure about the first part of the meme here. There have to be some Republicans who simply have had enough of the utter insanity of the GOP platform and are refusing to vote for things like bans on abortion, the Big Lie, white supremacy, environmental collapse, the reject of science in policymaking, teaching Christianity in schools, tax breaks for billionaires, and the further gutting of public education.
The photo here was taken just west of the University of California at Los Angeles, on the 405 Freeway, the same one on which the cops chased OJ Simpson 20 years ago.
“Sowing election doubts?”
Clearly, the Republican platform “we’re tough on crime” doesn’t apply to things like fraud, extortion, witness intimidation, election tampering, inciting insurrection/sedition conspiracy, and theft of classified documents.
Of the 330 million Americans, I challenge you to name one (other than Donald Trump himself) who would have been more grossly inappropriate than Clarence Thomas, husband of seditious conspirator Ginny Thomas, to block the subpoena that compels Lindsey Graham to testify on election tampering in front of a grand jury in Georgia.
The push to reduce VMT (vehicle miles traveled) has been quite successful in many regions of Europe, where there is a confluence of great public transportation, infrastructure that supports bicycling, and an honest interest in environmental responsibility.
I have never understood how Democrats lost the support of working-class Americans.
