Ron DeSantis: Is He for Real?
I have to admit that I have no special insight into Ron DeSantis’s thinking re: the regressive laws he supports, and this (see left) is a good case-in-point.
He supports the “Stop Woke Act,” designed to combat “woke indoctrination” in Florida businesses and schools by prohibiting instruction that could make some parties feel they bear “personal responsibility” for historic wrongdoings because of their race, sex or national origin.
Well, no surprise, that got struck down for its obvious violation of the First Amendment’s protection of free speech.
My question: Didn’t he see this coming? Did he ever expect the law to stand up? Did he go through all the histrionics for any other reason than making the national news?
We’re told that Trump is having a bit of difficulty finding qualified criminal attorneys to protect him from the onslaught of indictments that appear to be heading his way.
Nice headline. Kudos.

I have a few conservative friends who like to make points like the one here, i.e., that the news about violence and hate is blown out of proportion, as compared with what actually exists out there.
The content of the graphic here is all over our news. And it certainly rings true, doesn’t it? It’s very clear that Trump led a team that attempted, and is still attempting, to overthrow the U.S. government.
It easy to feel sorry for professional comedians like The New Yorker’s Andy Borowitz, because it’s hard to be funny when the real world is behaving with such comical ineptitude.

There are so many weird aspects of American politics that sometimes it’s hard to know what stands out as truly noteworthy. That said, the issues of “lack of candidate quality” that are beleaguering the Republican party should be getting a lot of attention, especially insofar as it’s hilarious, if only for its outrageous stupidity.
