In the 1960s, it was common for heavy-duty patriots to fly the American flag 365 days a year.

We may have considered them ultra-conservatives, but we didn’t think of them as morons.

It really is a shame that all this has changed and that now, flag wavers are regarded as  likely to think the election was stolen by the Deep State and the liberal elites, and that Donald Trump was (quite literally) a gift that God gave us to save our nation from socialism, sexual depravity, and critical race theory.

One of the biggest problems facing the United States as a country is that very few people have abandoned Trump, or are even capable of abandoning him.  The slim majority recognized him as a conman the moment he opened his mouth, but almost half are forever wedded to the idea that he is here to make America great again. We are urged not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but this isn’t too great a gift.

Quebec contributes essentially zero to Canada’s oil production.

The declaration is like Bolivia’s banning lobster fishing, or Kansas’s banning mountain climbing.

Every time we get another reminder that we may be on the cusp of finding intelligent life elsewhere in the universe, a thought runs through my mind: It’s possible that these “people” evolved to be a lot like us, though without all the hate and stupidity.

We could be the “evil twin” of this sister civilization that has found a way to live  harmoniously with one another, without all the racism, war, and poverty. (more…)

I know there are people who are forced to stay in immoral hellholes like Oklahoma simply because they can’t afford the cost of living elsewhere.  For them I feel truly sorry when I see legislation like this.

My advice to everybody else: Pack up your stuff and get as far from oppression like this as you possibly can.

Nice to see that General Motors is coming up with some adorable ads for its all-electric Chevy Bolt.

Obviously, the planet would have a better prognosis had they not put a spear through their first EV campaign 26 years ago, but we can’t turn back the clock.

From this piece called: “Four solutions to mitigate climate change, from the IPCC”

(Responding to the latest report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), climate scientist Michael Mann, a distinguished professor of atmospheric science at Penn State who will join the University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Earth and Environmental Science, responded: (more…)

As the 800 +/- insurrectionists make their way through our criminal courts, we hear essentially the same sad refrain: “The President of the United States authorized me to do what I did.”

Of course, there is a limit to which this is mitigating, as we all learned as children when we did something wrong, and justified it to our parents with “My friend Bobby told me to do it,” followed by this response, “If Bobby told you to jump off a cliff, would you do it?”

Nevertheless, if I were hearing these cases, I’d find this at least somewhat compelling.  Bobby isn’t the head of the executive branch of our American government, of which the Department of Justice is a part.

As a surprise to no one, Kay Ivey, governor of Alabama, is running for re-election on the platform that “fake news, Big Tech, and blue state liberals stole the election from President Trump,” and that she pledges to “protect your vote.”

She continues, “The left is probably offended – so be it.”

I wouldn’t say offended.

I’m ashamed that I live in the same country as these hateful idiots, and I’m shocked that Alabama, 46th out of the 50 states in education, has made virtually no progress in terms of moving itself out of the dark ages.

We Americans need to start asking ourselves why we want to be led by overtly deceitful people.  I for one would rather elect someone with no qualification other than basic honesty than a Dr. Oz or Donald Trump.

You can say that Joe Biden has been ineffectual in his political career, and you wouldn’t be the only voice to carry that message.  While that’s debatable, Trump told more than 30,000 bald-faced lies in his four years in office.  Who makes a more capable and trustworthy president?
