And to call the story of this part of U.S. history “wild” puts it mildly. In just four short years, the United States transformed itself from a functioning (albeit corrupt) democracy into a nation with nothing but lies and criminality in its top ranks.
Now it’s time to end the story. It’s going to be amazing.
I just signed up to be a part of the call for a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, which is a global initiative to phase out fossil fuels and propel a just energy transition globally.
As American educational standards decline, so does the intelligence of its congresspeople. This is a natural progression, of course, because stupid people vote for those who are just like them.
As shown below, low intelligence isn’t Boebert’s only charming characteristic; sleaze is also a big part of the picture.
Not sure what type of person would say this, when there are 14 different religious groups around the world that celebrate a winter holiday. All you’re saying about yourself by sharing this is that you’re an intolerant, hostile jackass.
Former president Donald Trump will soon be indicted for criminal racketeering under New York state law, according to Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist David Cay Johnston.
Johnston indicated Saturday afternoon that the charges will stem from Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance’s ongoing investigation into whether Trump’s company misled lenders or tax authorities about the value of its properties.
“I anticipate they’re going to bring a racketeering charge against Trump,” Johnston said. “Certainly Trump’s team, when he’s indicted, and I’m certain he will be indicted, is going to try to lay the blame on everybody else, and so what the prosecutors want to show that is if (Trump Organization Chief Financial Officer) Allen Weisselberg phonied up documents, it was at the direction of Donald Trump.”
MSNBC host Yasmin Vossoughian then pressed Johnston to confirm that he is certain about an impending indictment.
“Oh, yeah,” Johnston responded. “They would not have done all of this and know how much they know … if they weren’t going to to do this. Yeah, they will indict him. Exactly when? I don’t know. I don’t expect it will be on a straight tax charge. I think there will be a tax charge, but the key charge will be racketeering.”
He added that the timing of the indictment will depend on how long it takes prosecutors to go through five million pages of documents that were handed over by the Trump Organization.
“Once he’s indicted, Trump will have to surrender himself to be booked. I’m sure he will be released on his own recognizance, and then we will see a campaign of trying to delay trial,” Johnston said. “You will see Donald say, ‘This is corrupt, the prosecutors are corrupt, the police are corrupt, the auditors are corrupt,’ because that’s what Roy Cohn taught him when he was a young man — accuse law enforcement, and then delay, delay, delay.”
Until I looked it up, I couldn’t have told you precisely what “racketeering” is. Worth a look-see if you share my ignorance with the term.
As top former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner said with respect to the upcoming Trump indictments, “No one wants to be first, but everyone wants to be second.”
The image of the child musician crying was classified as one of the most emotional photographs of modern history.
This photo was taken of a 12-year-old Brazilian boy (Diego Frazzo Turkato), playing the violin at the funeral of his teacher who rescued him from the environment of poverty and crime in which he lived.
In this image, humanity speaks with the strongest voice in the world:
“Cultivate love and kindness in a child to sow the seeds of compassion. And only then you will build a great civilization, a greatnation “…
Sowing the seeds of compassion, as so to build a great nation. What a powerful message.
Good people everywhere are hoping that the zeitgeist of the Trump era was just a short-term disturbance in an otherwise decent society. Too many people bought into a culture of hate, indifference to one another, and the celebration of ignorance. Now we are in a position to leave all that behind.
It’s true that many Americans (read: Fox News viewers) believe that there was massive voter fraud in the 2020 election.
The good news, however, is that now there is a white-hot spotlight on the attempted coup, and part of the proceedings will include a review of the exact process by which 60+ different courts found no evidence of any significant fraud.
And, as if this weren’t enough, it’s possible that the state of Georgia will indict Trump on charges of election tampering. If that happens, again, there will be intense coverage of exactly what happened there: the recounts, followed by Trump’s berating and threatening Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in a failed and completely illegal attempt to “find” 11,780 votes.
Trump supporters are different from the rest of us in almost every way. Obviously, our inner-selves are dissimilar, by which I mean our philosophies and value systems.
But strangely that deviation holds true on the outside as well–from the language we use, to the clothes we wear (especially accessories, like holsters) to the level of audacity with which we announce our politics to the rest of the world.
You will see very few Biden flags flown on the back of vehicles.
McConnell says Jan. 6 committee’s findings are ‘something the public needs to know’
McConnell’s interest in the investigation is notable given that he had opposed the creation of a bipartisan Jan. 6 commission, calling the idea “slanted and unbalanced.”
There is no question that McConnell will be one happy man once Trump is removed, and most of the lies and criminality goes out with it. This is a path (the only path) the GOP can take to regain some of its credibility with refined and educated people, after the drubbing it has taken since 2016.
