Whoever made this has a terrific point.  Ivanka Trump is attempting to make the world believe that the last five years never happened, and that she didn’t participate in her father’s treasonous attempt to undermine American democracy.

Where this is going to go is anyone’s guess.  In large measure, it will be a function of the criminal proceedings that are brought against her father.  All we can do is hope that justice is done here.

The plan of the EU and the United States to tax coal and other carbon intensive products is not sitting well with developing nations like India, as presented in the article linked above.  India and other developing nations will be quite vocal in their opposition to the concept at the Glasgow global climate summit to be held in November.

We hear the common argument that it’s unfair that the developed world, i.e., those that caused the climate crisis in the first place, are making it impossible for the third world to achieve prosperity by driving up the cost of energy.  Of course, the globe is essentially on fire, so that line of discourse has its limits. My associate Tom Solari is a “Trump won” conspiracy theorist, though he’s anything but a dolt.  Anyone interested in what he believes about the “stolen election” is free to read it here.  At the core is his belief that anyone who asserts that the election was not rigged is prohibited from saying so.  My response: (more…)

A cool little piece of irony here.

Those who have seen Robert Reiner’s coming-of-age movie “Stand By Me” will recall this scene.

A great number of media groups have sprouted up over the past few years to make various points about the level of criminality in U.S. politics. Of course, some of these do a better job than others.

Here’s a video featuring the January 6th insurrection and the utter bullcrap that Senator Ron Johnson has to say about it.  The man lives in a different world, and invites you to go live there too.  I would (dis)respectfully decline, if I were you.

Re: the message at left, you don’t have to tell me that, pal.

These are all criminals who need to be held accountable for what they did over the past four years, in terms of flouting dozens of different laws, not to mention suspending the rule of law itself.

As we all know, comparing Trump to history’s great demagogues opens one up to ridicule.

I accept that risk.

I wish every American could see the short video below. (more…)

I sometimes find myself making snap judgements about people based simply on their appearance, and I don’t like that about myself.  The guy in the picture here, however, simply exudes certain characteristics that anyone could spot.  I’m thinking:

• Adores the main Rhone varietals, especially grenache and mourvedre

• Kind and considerate lover

• Fluent in four languages, including biblical Greek

• Excels at backgammon and chess (more…)

A friend sent me this piece for comment, presenting the objection that some people in southern France have to wind turbines.  Most of it focuses on the issue of the disposal of wind turbine blades that are decommissioned in favor of newer, longer ones.  Excerpts with my comments include: (more…)

The article in Newsweek excerpted here leaves one with the impression that Trump is going to have a monstrously difficult time remaining active in American politics, even if, by some miracle, he can deal with the spate of legal woes he faces:

Both QAnon and longtime supporters of former President Donald Trump criticized his Saturday night speech in Wellington, Ohio, accusing him of the “same-old, same-old” grievances against Democrats and his 2020 election loss to President Joe Biden. (more…)
