“The White House has no regrets about tear-gassing peaceful protesters to get Trump’s Bible photo.”

Of course, I want Trump to lose (then be charged, convicted and imprisoned). (more…)

This is one of the “would be funny if it weren’t so tragic” memes.

I signed the petition, but give me a break.  EPA administrator Andrew Wheeler, career lobbyist for the coal industry, couldn’t give a damn what the American people want.  He’s on a mission to gut or repeal as many environmental regulations as he possibly can.

Is this part of Trump’s vendetta against Obama, or is it just garden-variety corruption, i.e., favors to corporate donors?  Actually, I have no evidence that speaks to the motive; I surmise it’s a combination of the two.  In either case, he’s a disgusting human being.

In this video, we see the commission of battery, a criminal offense involving unlawful physical contact.

Someone noted, “This video makes me angry, but I’m open enough to know that no matter how flat you make a pancake, there are two sides.”

Synthetic fuels refer to those that don’t come from biological processes; they’re made from bringing together hydrogen and carbon molecules to form hydrocarbons via highly endothermic chemical reactions.  Preferably that energy is derived from sources whose off-peak output would otherwise be wasted, or, in the case of wind, curtailed.

There are tons of approaches to make this happen; here’s the best one.

What a compelling illustration of the difference between excellent leadership and solid cooperation, vs. the disgusting morass of corruption, incompetence, dishonesty and selfishness we have here in the U.S.

In a recent talk I had with my mother, she pointed out that conservatives, both white and black, place blame on the black community for wealth inequality, and asked me to comment.

I began by acknowledging that there is some truth here.  I’m sure an objective analysis of large numbers of white and black families would show important differences in values and behaviors re: wealth creation.  However, this is a complicated issue that has many causes, and selecting one while ignoring the others is simply an exercise in racism itself. Person A: If Trump loses in November, which he will, I guarantee he will fight it, coup style.

Person B:  Fortunately the military seems to be turning on him.
Me:  While it’s true that several top retired military people are starting to be critical of Trump, and that all this is unprecedented, I wouldn’t say that the military is “turning on him.”  The military will execute any legal orders they receive as long as he’s president, which, if he loses the election will cease to be the case at 12:00, January 20, 2021.
At that point, he’ll have no more power to run this country than the guy who mows my lawn, and if he acts otherwise, law enforcement will move against him immediately.  I’m counting the days.

It came as no surprise when the promoter of this small wind turbine was upset by my post the other day “Video on Small Wind,” in which I pointed out that his claims were preposterous.  I began, “Will the wind turbine here generate electricity?  Yes.  Will it do so cost-effectively?  Not in a million years,” and then went on to explain why.

In the conversation that ensued on Facebook, I referred to him as a charlatan, and he replied, “I’m just an inventor who’s trying to make the world a better place.”

No.  Charlatans don’t make the world a better place.

Let’s consider two great hurdles our civilization faces: one short-term (will come to a head in the next few months), and the other much longer-term (may stay with us until our ultimate demise).

In November, the U.S. presidential election will be held, and at this point Trump looks near-certain to lose. (more…)

• Vertical axis machines are intrinsically left efficient than their horizontal axis counterparts.

• This device invokes drag rather than lift mechanics. (more…)
