Clean Business Investment Summit 2013 – Coming Up Soon!

I’m proud to serve as a member of the Advisory Board for the Clean Business Investment Summit (CBIS), held annually at the University of California at Santa Barbara in the late summer. This year’s event on September 12th will be the fourth such meeting of which I’ve been a part, and I have to say, to date, each one has been bigger and better than the one before it.

CBIS brings together good ideas in clean tech with investors – an enterprise to which we’re no strangers here at 2GreenEnergy. Thus far, over $110 million in angel and venture capital has been raised as a direct result of introductions made at CBIS – not too bad, in my humble estimation. 

Here’s an overview of what we’ll be doing this year.  Those wishing to know more may want to check out the CBIS advertisement.

The job function I enjoy most is mentoring presenters at the one-day “boot camp” that precedes the event.  I help them fine-tune their PowerPoint, and emphasize the aspects of their presentation that I happen to know will be of most interest/concern to potential investors.  I also play a role in the event itself, in particular, the “Investors Roundtable,” a feature we added just last year.  This is where the rubber really meets the road, and the investors get a chance to meet each entrepreneur face to face.  At this stage, I’m assigned to a certain investor, and make sure that no single person is unduly monopolizing his/her time.
