For Reasons I Can’t Begin To Explain, Advanced Nuclear Group Features Some Horrendously Unenlightened Members

I’ve had some amusing conversations with some of the scientists associated with the “advanced nuclear” group of which I am a part.

Speaking to entire group of ~100 people:

Scientist A:  Raping nature to save nature.

Scientist B:  This site is moron fly paper; it looks like anyone can get stuck.

Speaking privately:

Craig:  Ha!  Of course, you could be talking about me….

Scientist B:  I don’t know who I am talking about. But there is a lot of right wing crap about wind and solar that keeps showing up here. The site linked above is total crap squared.

Craig: Yes, that’s true, as I commented yesterday.  And that, to me, is the bizarre part.  There are tons of people who believe this garbage; I understand that, and accept it as a tragedy of our age.  But, up until now, I had observed that such folks came in two varieties:  a) the profoundly ignorant / unintelligent, and b) the profoundly nasty / mean-spirited.  Here you have all these fancy PhDs, all sincerely (I presume) deeply concerned about climate disruption, and they’re talking like Glenn Beck devotees.

You’ll notice that a great number of people have unsubscribed in a huff.  Not me.  I want to see what’s going to happen next.  Maybe there’s a denouement.
