Climate Change Mitigation in the Trump Administration

Climate Change Mitigation in the Trump AdministrationHere’s an article in today’s edition of “The Economist” that provides interesting insight in the U.S. role in limiting the rise of global temperatures.  The net: even though Trump may have a new-found “open mind” on the legitimacy of climate science, the Republican-led Congress largely dismisses climate change itself as a phony fad peddled by “bicoastal elites,” a snide, pejorative term for “educated people.” Moreover, it was just a few days ago that the president-elect renewed his promise to remove all restrictions on the generation of energy from fossil fuels.

Having said all this, the article provides rational that suggests that the rest of the world will continue to pursue solutions to this crisis, with or with the U.S.  We can only hope that’s true.

They remind me of the Indiana legislators who almost decreed the legal value for π. Fortunately a professor persuaded them that that was not an appropriate thing for a legislative body to do.

Perhaps someone can think of a clever satire to point out how silly it is to deny strong scientific evidence. Sometimes satire is more effective than straight forward approaches.

      That’s a funny story; I hadn’t heard that one.

You’re absolutely right about satire, btw; I only wish I were better at it.
