Donald Trump and the Swamp

10B7A494-99DF-4338-8939-8A5FEC08E2FA (1)It’s understandable that some Americans think that its president “has good ideas.”  This is exactly where my dyed-in-the-wool-Republican mother is; she approves of his policies on border control, taxation, international hostility, political correctness, reduction in government, as well as the repeal of as many of Obama’s accomplishments as possible.  At the same time, she would admit that Trump is a person of deeply flawed character, and she certainly would not join a whopping 72% of other GOP fans in agreeing that “Trump is a good role model for children.”  (I just spoke with Mom about this; she was in disbelief until I read her this.)

Three out of four.  Isn’t that mind-blowing?  I wonder what they deem to be his most admirable trait.  The nonstop lying? The sex criminality? The wanton destruction of the environment? The support of the neo-Nazis? The rigid objection to any form of gun control?  The broad rejection of science?

Just a few years ago, wouldn’t 90+% of every American have called all these things values from hell?  Now, it seems that 72% of a certain political party want their kids to grow up to be ignorant, violent, hateful liars and sex abusers?  It’s hard to believe this has happened to this once-great country.

Re: the meme above, there are probably people who agree that he’s “draining the swamp,” though few if any of them read “The New Yorker.”
