Nobody Told Me There Would Be Days Like These

imagesAs suggested in John Lennon’s wonderful song, these are strange days indeed.

A year ago, anyone with a conscience hated former Exxon/Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson.  Yet a couple of months ago, we all felt sorry for him, after he was unceremoniously booted from the State Department, likely for referring to the president as a “f***ing moron.”

Now the surreal nature of today’s world has ratcheted up another notch: in their war with Donald Trump over trade tariffs, the Koch Brothers look like people of decency and principle.

Now, let’s be realistic; this is not a moral issue, but it’s one in which, ironically, the world is rooting for the Koch Brothers, as they’re pitting themselves against Trump, and, best of all, in battle for the core of Trump’s support base: blue-collar Americans.

Who’ll we be liking next? Betsy DeVos? Scott Pruitt?  Steve Bannon?  David Duke?  Joe Arpaio?  Ted Cruz?  Strange days indeed.

    Craig,

Ironic indeed ! Only two days ago I asked you a simple ethics question, and I guess this is an insight into the emptiness of your political philosophy and the integrity of the entire left.

Is your hatred for President Trump so great you would betray all your principles, including all the thousands of passionate advocacy you have written over the years, in the hope of maybe a putting a dent in the President’s administration.

That’s always the trouble in any conflict, one day you realize you must be as nasty as your enemy to win. The trouble is,..you inevitably become a lot nastier and no longer care about what made you different.
