Biomimicry

11148740_1958419401048839_7146144478353705263_nAs the name suggests, biomimicry is the study of design based on what we can observe from the evolution of life forms, and the billions of years of practice that nature has had in solving many of the problems we humans face.  At left we have a peregrine falcon and a B2 bomber, the comparison of which makes this point admirably (though I would prefer the subject weren’t war machines).

As biomimicry pioneer Jenine Benyus likes to say, “We’ve spent thousands of years learning about nature.  Now it’s time to learn from nature.”
