“Educating” People on Climate Change

I’m fairly certain that the meme on the left here was not written as a joke, but I sure got a chuckle out of it.

Unless you’re in third grade, your friends are already quite familiar with the concept of climate change. If they are scientifically literate and morally upright people, they recognize that this represents an existential threat to humankind, and are motivated to want to mitigate its effects while there is still time.  If they are the victim’s of the fossil fuel industry’s massive disinformation campaign, they may regard climate change as a hoax perpetrated by liberal scientists, hoping to cripple America’s economy. Or, if they simply couldn’t care less about human suffering, they may be similarly disposed to remain unconcerned about environmental collapse.

If you think your friends want you to “educate” them on this subject, ask a few.  I dare you.

If you want essentially the same experience, join a religious cult and try to educate your friends as to “the only true religion” you’ve just found.

In either case, good luck; you’ll need it.
