Elon Musk Puts It Kindly

Musk’s statement at the left is putting it diplomatically, of course.  In fact, this isn’t an “experiment” to see if the oil companies are wrong; it’s an exercise in power, greed, and evil.

Big Oil’s four-decade-long disinformation campaign was effective for a while, but now, anyone who has any scientific literacy at all (and most of those who don’t) understands that climate change is in the process of ruining this planet.  Unfortunately, the enormous impact of all that money leaves us powerless to force them to internalize the costs of the vast environmental damage they’re wreaking, and thus it’s “business as usual.”

If we were able to make this change, clean energy and transportation would be overwhelmingly less expensive and would replace fossil fuels at light speed.

    Craig,

I am a very early Tesla shareholder and owner of a number Tesla model S. Even before Tesla started production, I bought a Liberty Electric Range Rover and even earlier two Electron EV’s. (an Australian EV built from donor Hyundai).

I bought my first Prius way back 1998 and have owned seven Lexus hybrid models.

I’ve built and sold more than 1000 specialist EV’s over the last twenty years.

I really admire The achievements of Elon Musk, however, I don’t believe your mad crusade against oil companies is either constructive or helpful.

Why do you need an “enemy” to hate ?

Over the years the oil companies have poured billions into alternate fuel research.

The lithium battery was invented in an Exxon laboratory!

Oil companies would still survive and prosper from the nearly 350,000 highly profitable non-fuel products they produce if all transport became electric.

Calling people and corporations “evil” or “corrupt’ or ” greedy” is silly, pointless and in your case grossly hypocritical!

I say hypocritical because although you live only a short distance from Elon Musk’s Tesla Car production factory, you are yet to buy an EV.

Do you own a Tesla ? BMW i Series ? Honda or Hyundai EV, not even a Nissan Leaf or GM EV ? What no EV at all?

You would rather buy gasoline from those you consider “evil” and “greedy” thereby supporting those whom for years you have accused of conspiring against the environment, than put your hand in your pocket and buy an EV!!

If your house catches fire, you need to call an ambulance for your family or the police, I’ll bet you won’t refuse to avail yourself of the emergency service vehicle while you wait for an EV to be invented that can haul 22 tons at 80 mph over a distance and then pump water for six hours!

Oh, and btw, a Tesla uses a lot of oil to produce. From the tyres it runs on, to the windshield wipers, glass, ceramics, electronic insulation, interior plastics, brakes, lubricants paint even the blacktop highway, all are mode using oil!

Endless hypocritical ranting against oil companies is counter-productive. None one sensible believes or cares.

You would gain more credibility by buying a Tesla and setting an example from you own personal experience, than ranting on about “evil” oil companies while filling up on their product!
