What’s Ruining America

“What the hell happened?”  Precisely one thing: the so-called “winners” won and the “losers” lost.  Wealth, slowly at first, gradually accelerating, now at a full gallop, has eroded our democracy.

It was a multi-pronged attack:

Generating ignorance.  Our public education system has degenerated to the point that only a little over one-third (37 percent)  of students are prepared for college-level math and reading.  This provides the underpinnings for our post-truth world, where most people will not or cannot challenge assertions that have no basis in fact.

Generating hate.  Common Americans are now convinced that their enemies are desperate asylum seekers, the lazy “welfare queens,” the people coming for their guns, and the democratic socialists/progressives.

Corruption. Big money is the only thing that counts in U.S. politics.

There are some honest and sincere patriots doing what they can to turn this around, but we need to be realistic: they’re losing.

    Craig,

Hmmm,…let’s see, a slave owning President, a serial philanderer who owed his election to the mafia, and Lincoln who wasn’t that popular as he later became in death.

However, all three accomplished great deeds in their day, but what hat has to do with US education, it’s a bit obscure to connect.

Moving on form that, we come to your observation, “Corruption. Big money is the only thing that counts in U.S. politics”.

Hmmmm,… must be a bit embarrassing for you to ardently support a party like the Democrats which has at least 5 multi-billionaires vying to become the next presidential candidate!

Especially when one owns his own media empire!

In three weeks, Mike Bloomberg as outspent all the other candidates entire campaign expenditure combined! As his campaign director explained, ” We haven’t started to spend yet” !

Must be tough to see the mice behind all those Jackass Democrats. (the original Democrat mascot)!

One last thought, if 60% of Americans don’t have college level maths, so what ?

Exactly how will a greater level knowledge of trigonometry. Numerical Analysis,Geometry, the study of algorithms or theoretical physics help in the life of the average American?
